Mark Hamill and Daisy Ridley Reportedly Filming Scenes in Dubrovnik For Star Wars: Episode VIII

For the past couple of weeks, we've seen the Star Wars: Episode VIII set in Dubrovnik, Croatia transform from a couple of simple fiber glass archways into portals with neon lights and control panels that certainly look like they're from another planet. However, there have been few details as to which characters will be appearing on set when filming begins on March 11.

Now, we're finally given a hint on who exactly will appear on the aforementioned set.

According to MosCroatia (h/t Dork Side Of The Force), characters set to appear on the set are none other than Jedi Master Luke Skywalker and his latest padawan, Rey.

An English translation of the MosCroatia report reads:

With exceptional pleasure to announce that it probably Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) and Daisy Ridley (Rey)!

The Croatian website added that they came up with the info after sending scouts dressed as Darth Vader and stormtroopers to investigate the set.

Here's another snippet from the website's report:

Until the information is not easy to come by, but when you're in costume is not easy to get even on the set itself. The phenomenon of our members in Stradun caused indescribable crowd and attraction, media interest, but also of the people of Dubrovnik who wanted to take pictures with well-known villains saga. Of course, too much interest did not suit the production and is set visit was short, but as you can see, fruitful.

No other details have been provided about the scenes that will be shot in the grand old city, but rumors have suggested that there will be night chase scenes in the streets of Dubrovnik. As noted by Dork Side, the reason behind possible leaked info on Star Wars: Episode VIII filming may be attributed to Director Rian Johnson, who's not as cryptic as J.J. Abrams when it comes to his movies.

It could also be because Episode VIII's release has been set farther back than expected. While it's quite impossible for fans to lose interest in any movie of the franchise, the general public might, and well-intended leaks could definitely help boost interest.

Google Translate may not be accurate in its translations, but we're keeping our fingers crossed for now. Hopefully, even as the streets are closed off on the 9th, some people will be able to take pictures of Hamill and Ridley if they will indeed shoot in Dubrovnik.

Star Wars: Episode VIII is slated for release on December 15, 2017.
