Earlier in March, it was announced that Sydney Sweeney will be joining Madame Web which had previously cast Dakota Johnson in the titular role. Although the project is still in development, Sweeney admitted to Variety that she is already preparing for the film.

“I am. I’ve been ordering a bunch of comic books,” she confessed before adding that there is a good reason why she is excited about the project.

“There’s a lot to learn. I’ve always been a really big fan of all of the Marvel and Sony Universe movies. I’ve grown up watching them all and I’ve been engulfed in the entire world my entire life, so being able to be a part of that is such an incredible, incredible thing,” Sweeney said.

So who is Sweeney playing in Madame Web? The White Lotus actress didn't reveal any details but in the same interview, she confirmed that she has trained in mixed martial arts, a skill that could come in handy in the film.

“I would love to,” Sweeney said when asked whether she could use MMA in a future project. “It might be something that I’m producing,” she added with a smile.

For now, Sweeney's role in Madame Web has not yet been confirmed but there are speculations she has been cast as Spider-Gwen or Black Cat. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
