A long-forgotten Star Wars alien is featured in the recently released trailer for the MandoVerse spinoff series Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, which should resonate with diehard fans of the franchise.
Since Captain EO has been absent for almost a decade, many fans of the younger generation are completely unaware of the Michael Jackson role in the film, which was directed by Francis Ford Coppola and produced by George Lucas.
It was an early example of a 4D short film when it was initially shown.
Captain EO's sidekick, Fuzzball, is seen in a cage in the trailer; although the purpose of this figure is unclear, it does guarantee his reappearance in the next series.
Who Are Captain EO and Fuzzball?
Originally released in 1986 as a 17-minute musical sci-fi short film, Captain EO starred Michael Jackson, the King of Pop, with a little flying animal that resembled a red cat, known as Fuzz ball from the crew.
George Lucas was the film's creator. Fuzzball, who debuted in the most recent teaser, is one of the characters who made up his initial team.
In addition to being the first 4D short film ever produced, its 1986 debut at EPCOT was a significant technical development at the time. It was also the first to be synchronized with a theater. People enjoyed the show till 1994 when it closed.
In 2010, the film was shown again as a memorial to the pop king, Michael Jackson, after his demise in 2009. Later, in December 2015, the program was permanently closed.
On December 3, the new eight-episode Star Wars television series will premiere.
Further in the trailer
In the first scene of the trailer, Whim—played by Ravi Cabot-Conyers, who also provided the voice of Antonio for Encanto—is shown in bed at night, staring up at the ceiling and noticing the shadows cast by the toys that hang on the wall as light streams through them.
In the next scene, Whim is in a school bus, sitting next to Neil, played by Robert Tommy Smith. The next scene shows Whim, Neil, and several other children seated in a room with desks organized in clusters.
A blue-capped instructor is seen telling the kids about an exam that would decide their future professions. Whim asks Neil whether he wants to go on any amazing adventures, such as visiting another planet. They converse about adventures.
Then, Whim, Neil, and their pals Ryan Kiera Armstrong playing Fern, and KB go to a location in the woods where they chance to locate a wrecked spacecraft, believing it to be a forgotten Jedi Temple. Later, they discover something hidden in the forest.
The kids discover a dried-up skeleton on the floor with a dagger thrust to his chest when the spacecraft miraculously activates and they plunge down a slide-like structure till they slip inside.
The spacecraft quickly takes off into space once a one-eyed robot is activated. In the next scene, the children are seen in a secluded area, ascending a hill and realizing how far they have gone from home. At that point, Fuzzball is shown to us imprisoned there.
In the trailer, KB sees two X-wings soaring, while Whim is seen shooting at targets while seated in a gunner's seat. Jude Law plays Jod Na Nawood in the last scene, whom Whim misidentifies as a Jedi.
