Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for Loki Season 2 Episode 2, so read at your own risk!

The second season premiere of Loki ended with General Dox and an army of Minutemen seemingly looking for Sylvie in the various timelines although one of the hunters cast doubt on the plan.

Given that Sylvie is the reason behind the branched timelines that were created after she killed off He Who Remains, she essentially became the person of interest for the TVA officials which is why they need to look for her.

However, with the second episode now out and unveiling what happened next, it turns out that it was all just misleading and they revealed that their mission was not about looking for Sylvie after all.

After finding X-5 in 1977 London in the sacred timeline where he was living the life as the movie star Brad Wolfe, Loki, Mobius, and B-15 tried to interrogate him for information on Sylvie's whereabouts.

However, X-5 refused to budge as he reminded Loki of his actual villainous personality and Mobius and B-15 that they have previous lives that were stolen from them and their current life in TVA is not real.

Loki and Mobius came up with a new plan where the God of Mischief went into mischievous mode and intimidated X-5 by using a device to torture him. Eventually, X-5 gave up and revealed that Sylvie was living a new life in 1982 Oklahoma in a branched timeline.

Afterward, the trio went to 1982 Oklahoma in a branched timeline and found Sylvie working at McDonald's. Loki told Sylvie about seeing her in the future during the previous episode while Mobius and X-5 are enjoying their meal inside the restaurant.

However, Mobius noticed that X-5 was acting strangely and this is the moment where the hunter confessed that they could die if they stayed in the timeline.

Sylvie used her enchantment spell to X-5 and discovered that Dox and the Minutemen were actually pruning every new branched timeline. They were not looking at Sylvie at all.

The group quickly returned to TVA and Loki, Mobius, and Sylvie went to the place where Dox and the Minutemen were doing their pruning mission. They successfully appDox and the Minutemen were doing their secret mission. They successfuly apprerehended them, but it was also too late as they had already pruned many timelines and killed billions of people.

The people at TVA were left devastated, especially B-15 as she was advocating for the survival of the people who were in the branched timelines.

Sylvie also felt upset and reminded Loki that the TVA has always been a problem. She returned in 1982 Oklahoma, feeling devastated.

There is no doubt that it was a grim twist and the multiverse may have become more chaotic now thanks to Dox's nefarious actions. It is interesting to see how they'll handle the aftermath in the following episodes.

It also poses a question of whether the other timelines that we're familiar with such as the Fox universe were affected, but perhaps that will be explored in Deadpool 3. We might be able to get the answer soon enough.
