Loki: Moon Knight Directors Set to Helm Season 2

The second season of Loki is now on its way after the success of the first season last year. While we still don't know what exactly the story of the next season will be, we do know that most of the main cast members will be returning and production is set to begin soon. Now, we finally know who is going to direct the second season and they are someone who has already stepped into the MCU.

Deadline has reported that Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, who directed a couple of episodes of Moon Knight, are set to co-direct the majority of the episodes of the second season of Loki. According to the report, Marvel was very impressed with the directing duo's work on Moon Knight that they wanted to hire them in another MCU project immediately. The second season of Loki quickly jumped to the top of the list. The duo also replaces Kate Herron, who directed the first season and didn't return due to commitment to other projects.

Tom Hiddleston and Michael Waldron, who served as the showrunner of the first season, will also serve as executive producers of the second season. Eric Roberts, who wrote the fourth episode and co-wrote the season finale of the first season, is writing all episodes of the second season.

While Moon Knight hasn't aired yet so we can't tell how did the duo's work as they stepped into the MCU looked like, they have proven in their films such as Resolution and Synchronic that they are some of the most promising directors today, especially when it comes to genre storytelling. Benson and Moorhead are definitely great choices to direct the second season of Loki as it is right up their alley.

The duo's hiring also tells us that Marvel Studios was very happy with their work on Moon Knight (which could also tell about the quality of the series) that they were already willing to hire them in another project without waiting for the critical response. If they continue to do great work in the MCU, it wouldn't be surprising if they'll hire them to direct one of their upcoming feature films. It's now more exciting to see what the second season will look like and we can't wait to see what they have in store.
