Lin Manuel Miranda Wants to Play Carnage in a Marvel Movie

Lin Manuel Miranda has been harboring a burning ambition to play Carnage, ComicBookreports. The composer and star is best known for his hit musical Hamilton, but he's also had a big hand the music of Disney's Moana and will be working on the upcoming live-action remake of The Little Mermaid. He's also set to star alongside Emily Blunt in the upcoming Mary Poppins movie.

On an episode of Meet The Movie Press, host Simon Thompson revealed Miranda's wish. He said Miranda "is a big fan of Marvel. There is one particular character that he would actually like to play, that he has already specified. It's Carnage."

He went on to say that Miranda had told him "if Disney and Marvel were looking at doing a Maximum Carnage movie or bringing Carnage in as a character, he wants to be Carnage. Genuinely as a fan, he would love to play Carnage. That is a goal of his."

Carnage is a Spider-Man villain who first debuted in 1991's The Amazing Spider-Man #360. Carnage's true identity is the serial killer Cletus Kasady, who merged with an offspring of the alien parasite Venom while in prison. He became a monstrous creature that went on merciless murderous rampages and hated Spider-Man for interfering with them.

Carnage is definitely an unorthodox role for Miranda to play, but the guy is known for being unpredictable. While I can't quite see Miranda in the role, I would definitely love to see him involved in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as he's very talented.

What about you? Do you think Miranda would do a good job as Carnage? Or would he be more suited for another role?
