The partnership between Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars universe was extremely shortlived and following Qui-Gon's death in The Phantom Menace, it no longer comes a surprise how fans have been clamoring to have the duo back especially now that Ewan McGregor is doing a standalone Obi-Wan series on Disney+. When the project was first announced, Liam Neeson immediately expressed his desire to appear in the show but according to him, Disney and Lucasfilm never reached out to him.

The idea of Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan's paths intertwining once more sounds absolutely lovely and while Neeson appearing in the show seems unlikely, there's always a chance that the deceased Jedi master could return to the franchise, the same way Yoda did. The thing is, Obi-Wan is set 10 years following the events of Revenge of the Sith and according to the Star Wars book Skywalker: A Family at War, that's the amount of time it takes for a Jedi to transition into a Force Ghost.

Liam talked about the entire Force ghost concept during an interview with Jake Hamilton of Jake's Takes while promoting his latest film The Ice Road. In the said conversation, the renowned actor was asked what advice he would give to Obi-Wan should they meet once again. He simply said: "Keep on trucking Obi-Wan! Keep on trucking baby, and may the Force be with you always."

As it stands, very little is known about the upcoming Star Wars spinoff series but I'm hoping that Lucasfilm will actually pull a huge surprise by giving us the Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon interaction we deserve. It's hard to tell if it's actually going to happen but then again, nobody saw Ewan McGregor's return to the franchise coming so yeah, anything is possible at this point.

Obi-Wan will hit Disney+ in 2022.
