If you've been following the history of the Marvel film franchise long before the MCU's inception, chances are you're already aware that once upon a time, Titanic actor Leonardo DiCaprio was once penciled to play Spider-Man on the big screen in a canned project that would've also been helmed by James Cameron. This would've taken place in the '90s but things didn't happen according to plan which then led us to Sam Raimi's Spidey trilogy from the 2000s which featured DiCaprio's real-life best friend Tobey Maguire in the lead.

Now, 20 something years later, Leo is once again entering the Marvel conversation. We reported a couple of days back that the Oscar-winning actor is being eyed for a role in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, a film that marks Raimi's Marvel return. The rumors have not been confirmed yet but it's safe to assume that should Leo become attached to the project, he'll finally fulfill his Spider-Man destiny.

Digital artist ApexForm seems to be down with the idea and he just unveiled his marvelous artwork depicting DiCaprio as an alternate universe version of Peter Parker. The image also features Tobey, Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield, and Benedict Cumberbatch. I gotta say, this one looks pretty interesting, See it for yourself below:

We still don't know what goes down in Doctor Strange 2 but considering the fact that it'll tie directly into Disney+'s WandaVision which also sets up Spider-Man 3, the film could definitely serve as some sort of a continuation for Tom Holland's third Spidey flick. I could be wrong though and it might end up becoming an entirely different film altogether but the chances are extremely high.

That said, WandaVision hits Disney+ on January 15, 2021.
