Why Lee Jong Suk Chose Big Mouth

Big Mouth is an upcoming MBC K-drama about Park Chang Ho, a third-rate lawyer who becomes the conman, Big Mouse, overnight. He is tasked to expose a huge issue about those in the upper classes, and he needs to accomplish it to survive and protect his family.

In an interview before the K-drama’s release (via Naver), the While You Were Sleeping actor opened up about why he chose the series as his new project.

“I am close with director Oh Choong Hwan and have great trust in him, and he said let’s have fun working together like in the past, so I decided on [starring in the drama] after thinking it over,” he said.

The K-drama’s plotline also hooked him, as Lee Jong Suk sees being a lawyer-turned-conman as a very interesting plotline. By showing different emotions and actions to portray Park Chang Ho as a lawyer and conman, the actor successfully showed a new side of him.

According to the South Korean star, he initially considered Park Chang Ho as someone ordinary and pitiful. But as he read the script, his impression changed and he immediately felt the desire to support his character.

Lee Jong Suk Has To Show Differences in Park Chang Ho’s Personas

As Lee Jong Suk has to play the roles of a lawyer and a conman at the same time, he worked hard to learn about the personas’ goals and emotions and tried to act with those in his mind so he could show the right emotions.

“He is a character literally covered in blood, sweat, and tears. In order to make a living and in order to survive, he awakens his survival instincts,” he went on.

Lee Jong Suk’s new K-drama Big Mouth will release episode 1 on July 29.
