Latest Star Wars Episode IX Set Photo is Pretty Vague

Aside from the recently announced cast, there is a lot of mystery surrounding Star Wars: Episode IX. We know it will follow up on the events of The Last Jedi, which proved to be a controversial installment of the franchise but that's about it. Unfortunately, the newest set photo from the film doesn't reveal much either, though it might tease more lens flare from J.J. Abrams.

Revealed on Instagram by Dan Mindel, who is the movie's director of photography and a frequent collaborator of Abrams, this set has a lot of lights in it but that's about it. Sure, there are a few props here and there but nothing that reveals anything new about the plot. At least we know John Boyega's new haircut will be lighted well.

Fans are always hoping to see something new from each installment in the series and Episode IX is no exception. While many weren't impressed by the casino planet of The Last Jedi, it did add to the series' lore and we can only hope that Episode IX does something similar and better.

But if Star Wars fans have learned anything, it's that we won't know anything about the story until we see a trailer or two. Lucasfilm has always made sure to make each trailer as vague as possible, which is a sigh of relief for those of us that don't want spoilers.

Star Wars: Episode IX comes to theaters on December 20, 2019.
