After the success of the first two Venom films and the middling response to Morbius, up next on Sony's live-action Spider-Verse slate is Kraven the Hunter which will mark the titular villain's big screen debut with Bullet Train star Aaron Taylor-Johnson taking on the role.

A lot of fans have been curious about what the character's solo film will look like, especially with the absence of Spider-Man as his foe as well as how it will fare with the rest of the live-action Spider-Verse.

It was also confirmed a while ago that the film will be R-rated which is an encouraging sign regarding its portrayal of the character's violent tendencies which is one of the aspects that he is known for.

Now, we finally have the first full look at the film and it is indeed going to be as violent as they're promising it to be.

The First Kraven the Hunter Trailer Confirmed the Movie's R-Rated Tone

Today, Sony released the first official trailer for Kraven the Hunter which gave us our first look at the upcoming Spider-Verse film and confirmed that it is indeed going to be R-rated as shown by its violent action sequences.

This officially marks the first film in the Sony Spider-Verse franchise to be rated R and, given the character's violent tendencies, it does make sense that this is the entry where they grapple with a more violent tone than the PG-13 standard.

Aside from the confirmed R-rated tone, the trailer also revealed the character's origins which seemingly suggest that his powers came from a drop of lion's blood which made him have apex predatory powers.

With the absence of Spider-Man as his foe, it looks like Kraven will be facing off against a group of animal hunters instead that is led by his father who is played by Russell Crowe. He also doesn't have a Russian accent which is a major change for the character.

The trailer also confirmed Alessandro Nivola's role as The Rhino, who is going to have a more mutant look this time around as he won't be wearing a rhino-like robotic costume figure like what Paul Giamatti did in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Whether you like the changes or not, there is no denying that the trailer does promise the movie's R-rated tone and it looks like they won't be pulling any punches when it comes to the violence.
