Korean Film Train To Busan To Have An American Remake Titled Last Train To New York


Domestic and international fans of the 2016 blockbuster Korean zombie film Train To Busan will be treated for an American version currently in the works.

Deadline reported that the American remake of the Gong Yoo-starred movie will have the working title Last Train To New York. Produced by Warner Bros.’ subsidiary New Line Cinema, the work has been set to be directed by Indonesian director Timo Tjahjanto, who also worked with The Night Comes For Us, May The Devil Take You, and Headshot.

Director Timo Tjahjanto has also expressed the pressure of remaking a sensational Korean film through his social media account in August. The director says he must produce a more successful result and avoid disappointing those who have trusted him with this work.

Twitter Users Shake Head In Disapproval Of Train To Busan American Remake

The power of Korean movies and dramas are surely visible in the past years. And recently, the Kdrama scene has created an uproar with the Netflix Korean series Squid Game.

However, the news of Train to Busan up for an American remake is not quite receiving a positive response.

Meanwhile, there are still no specific details about the American remake such as the production cast and setting. However, the title gives a hint that the movie will take place in the setting of New York.

Train to Busan was released in 2016 and was directed by Yeon Sang Ho. The Korean film sees a father and daughter who are traveling from Seoul to Busan. While on the train, a zombie outbreak occurs which entrap the passengers on a train ride to hell.
