After its announcement last year, the spin-off anime KonoSuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World finally has its first trailer along with a release date window.

The KonoSuba spin-off’s trailer was shared online on the KADOKAWAanime YouTube channel. Alongside the trailer, the series’ cast and staff members have also been revealed.

Check out the first preview video for the anime here:

While KonoSuba is a comedy anime, this spin-off trailer is more serious in tone. It features a young Megumin who is saved by a powerful magic user who uses explosion magic on a fearsome foe.

Based on this trailer, it’s likely that this new character will serve as Megumin’s inspiration to focus solely on explosion magic – a running gag in the main series.

In the preview video’s description, the staff for the anime was revealed. These include director Yujiro Abe, illustration artist Kurone Mishima, and general supervisor Takaomi Kanazaki.

As for the series’ voice cast, it was confirmed that Rie Takahashi will return as Megumin, with Aki Toyosaki also returning as Yunyun. Aside from these two, there’s no info yet on the rest of the voice cast.

KonoSuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World Release Date Window, Info

KonoSuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World is an anime that’s based on the light novel series of the same name by Natsume Akatsuki. It is a prequel spin-off of Akatsuki’s KonoSuba series, and it follows the origin story of Megumin, one of the main characters of the original series.

The main KonoSuba series is a TV anime that’s adapted from Akatsuki’s isekai light novel series. Its story follows Kazuma Satou, a teenage shut-in who suffers an embarrassing death.

After dying, Kazuma finds himself in front of the goddess Aqua as he is set to be reincarnated in a fantasy world. Instead of choosing a powerful weapon, Kazuma chooses Aqua to accompany him after finding her annoying.

It turns out that Aqua is an absent-minded goddess who proves nearly useless in this fantasy world. Thus begins their misadventures as they try and take down the world’s Devil King for Aqua to return to the afterlife.

The KonoSuba Megumin spin-off is set to premiere sometime in 2023. Currently, though, there’s no word yet on a specific release date.
