KonoSuba takes the isekai genre to a wonderful turn, resulting in a series filled with laughs and absolute chaos. Megumin is at the heart of most chaos, so much so that she now has her own spin-off series! But how old is Megumin in the story of KonoSuba?
Konosuba was originally a light novel series created by Natsume Akatsuki in 2013. It follows the story of Kazuma Satou, a high school student who dies and ends up reincarnated in a fantasy world mixed with MMORPG elements.
Alongside him is a goddess named Aqua, who’s practically useless and loves using her powers for simple party tricks. Eventually, their party is joined by Megumin and Darkness, a crusader.

Megumin is one of KonoSuba's adorable fan favorites. This explosion magic-obsessed girl loves explosions so much that she’s dedicated her arsenal to a single destructive spell – but she can only use it once a day. Not to mention, it practically drains all her energy afterwards.
Megumin is just one of the seemingly outrageous things about Kazuma’s party as a whole which makes them such an entertaining ensemble.
Megumi in Japanese means “blessing”, so there may be a pun hidden somewhere there based on the full title of the series.
Megumin can also be a cute way of saying Megumi. Since she’s so cute and all, her age is a common question.

We see throughout the series that Megumin gets quite insecure about her body and age, reacting violently when she’s treated like a little girl. But the thing is, Megumin actually really is a little girl.
According to the light novels, at the start of KonoSuba, Megumin is 13 years old. Later in the story, she turns a year older, but still, she's incredibly young!
It should be said that much of the KonoSuba cast are younger than their lives appear. Kazuma is 17 years old and Darkness is 18.
There is also a trend in Japanese anime of making characters younger than they would be in reality, although that's a whole other discussion.
When Megumin's age is laid out, it can feel a little jarring. However, it does make her naive ambition and delusions of grandeur more understandable.

The Megumin-led series KonoSuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World takes place around a year before the events of the main series. Therefore the Megumin we see in the spin-off is either 12 or 13 years old.
In this scenario, the young age makes a bit more sense. Megumin is still at school, where her unwavering ambition collides hilariously with the reality around her.
