After its release window announcement a few months ago, the upcoming series Konosuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World! just revealed its official release date and new voice cast members.
The new info about the show was revealed on its official website. Along with the announcement, a new trailer for the anime was also uploaded on the KADOKAWA Anime YouTube channel.
An Explosion on This Wonderful World! Light Novel and Anime
The upcoming show is a spinoff of the Konosuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World! isekai anime series that is based on the light novel series of the same name.
In case you’re unfamiliar, Konosuba began as a light novel series by Natsume Akatsuki. It started with Volume 1 which was published back in October 2013.
The main series ended on the 17th volume on May 1, 2020.
Thanks to its popularity, the light novel was adapted into an anime series by Studio DEEN, with its two seasons airing in 2016 and 2017, respectively.
In 2019, an anime film by J.C.Staff was released that adapted the fifth light novel volume.
The main Konosuba series follows the misadventures of Kazuma Satou, a teenage shut-in who was transported into a fantasy world following his untimely death.
Unlike more serious isekai shows, Konosuba is a comedic take on the genre as Kazuma has a party consisting of powerful adventurers that don’t have the sharpest of minds.
An Explosion on This Wonderful World! will follow Megumin, one of Kazuma’s party members.
This anime is based on the spinoff light novel series of the same name, and its story is set before the events of the main series.

Konosuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World! Release Date, Cast
As announced previously, Rie Takahashi and Aki Toyosaki return as the voices of Megumin and Yunyun, respectively.
They will be joined by five more voice actresses, including:
- Maria Naganawa as Komekko
- Kaori Nazuka as Arue
- Miyu Tomita as Funifura
- Sayumi Suzushiro as Dodonko
- Shizuka Ishigami as Nerimaki
This spinoff anime will be animated by Drive, the anime studio behind To Your Eternity Season 2.
Despite the change of studio, staff members from the first two seasons will return in the spinoff.
Konosuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World! will be released in April 2023.
Though right now, there’s no word yet on a specific release date, nor is there info on which platform it will be released in outside Japan.
