With the film set to be released in Japan in just a bit over two weeks, fans in the US may be wondering if the Monogatari film will also be released internationally. Thankfully, that will be the case as the Kizumonogatari: Koyomi Vamp compilation film is confirmed to be released in US cinemas.
The film’s North American release was announced recently on the anime’s official X (formerly Twitter) account. This reveal came with a visual for the compilation movie in English.
With the movie’s US theatrical release confirmed, this is the perfect time for lapsed Monogatari fans to jump in. Not to mention that it can also be a pretty good entry point to the series.
Where Kizumonogatari Sits on the Monogatari Series Timeline
For many anime fans who started to get into the hobby in the early 2010s, the Monogatari series by Shaft (of Madoka Magica fame) was among the go-to recommendations. This is thanks to its unique style courtesy of author Nisio Isin’s layered dialogue.
Because of its unique style and sprawling story, the series can be a confusing one to get into. It doesn’t help that it is split into numerous anime series with titles that don’t make it easy to know where to start.
The go-to recommendation for someone new is to watch starting from the first Bakemonogatari series. This is a good starting point, but it’s not the first in the series chronologically.
Another way to start is with the Kizumonogatari film trilogy. This film series serves as the origin story for the protagonist, Koyomi Araragi.
In fact, this is another common watch order recommendation given that the English light novel series was released with Kizumonogatari first before Bakemonogatari.

Kizumonogatari: Koyomi Vamp Compilation Film Gets US Cinema Release Date
Whether you’ve already seen the three films or have not yet watched them all, the upcoming Koyomi Vamp release will be one to watch out for this coming year.
This version was announced back in Aniplex Online Fest 2023, and it combines the three Kizumonogatari anime movies. It will first get a theatrical run in Japan on January 12, 2024.
Finally, the Nisio Isin anime project's official X (formerly Twitter) account confirmed that the compilation movie is coming to select North American cinemas.
It’s not clear if the compilation movie will cut out some parts or if it will simply show all three films back-to-back. If the latter is the case, then this film will be over three hours long.
Kizumonogatari: Koyomi Vamp will be released in the US and other North American cinemas sometime in 2024. Currently, there’s no word yet on a specific release date.
