Kingsman's Taron Egerton Wants Eggsy to Return as a Mentor

Kingsman: The Golden Circle ended with Eggsy (Taron Egerton) tying the knot and supposedly ending his arc, and it's been confirmed that Egerton will not be back for the next Kingsman movie which will be a prequel. Egerton, however, is still very open to coming back to the franchise, but this time, only to pass the torch to a new hero.

Talking to Empire, Egerton commented:

"I think what I would like to happen is for us to do a third one and for it to feel like a worthy third installment to what has been a great part of my life. And then my dream for it would be that I would kind hang up my suit for 10, 15 years and then come back and pass the mantle on. That's what I'd like to do, I think that would be fun. We have to take a step away for it for a while before we did that."

While a Kingsman 3 is still in the books, the next movie is said to be titled Kingsman: The Great Game, and is said to star Ralph Fiennes and Harris Dickinson. This movie is said to be a prequel and will depict the formation of the agency. Interestingly enough, the movie is said to be shooting back-to-back with Kingsman 3. Though I don't think it's necessary, it would be cool if this prequel also had something to do with the third film's plot. I just think it's fun to connect dots with these cinematic universes.

Though some may be bummed that Eggsy won't be in the next Kingsman film, Egerton is very likely to return in some way. With his character getting married in the last film, the only direction I can imagine moving forward is either Eggsy gets a kid of his own or his wife is somehow killed and he has to go out for revenge. To be honest, the character wasn't really written well, and she only seemed to be some kind of accessory for Eggsy to value when the movie wanted to raise the stakes.

Kingsman: The Great Game still has no official release date.
