Taron Egerton Confirms That Kingsman 3 Is An Origin Story

Fans are probably disappointed that Eggsy Unwin will not be returning in Kingsman: The Great Game. Nevertheless, Taron Egerton couldn't help but share some interesting details about the highly anticipated prequel.

Egerton recently spoke to CinemaBlend about the upcoming film to once again confirm that he isn't a part of it. Nevertheless, the Robin Hood actor dropped some information about the movie.

"Even in the Kingsman universe, where anything goes, unless we can develop a time machine in the first act of the movie, I'm not going to be in it. The idea for the film is really cool. It's more of an origin story, like the first one."

There is little doubt that Egerton is actually talking about the prequel film Kingsman: The Great Game, which is rumored to star Ralph Fiennes. The prequel is set to be a separate movie that will explore the origins of Kingsman in the early 1900s. Just so we're clear, this is the next planned film but director Matthew Vaughn has previously confirmed that a Kingsman 3 is happening and will feature Egerton and Colin Firth's Harry Hart.

So is the third Eggsy-Harry film actually happening? Egerton admitted he is "contractually obliged to be game for it."

"I'm very proud of my relationship with Matthew Vaughn. I'm very proud of the movies. ... All jokes aside, I would love to come back and do a third one and wrap it up."

Let's hope that the real Kingsman 3, the sequel to The Golden Circle, will get made soon enough. In the meantime, Kingsman: The Great Game is expected to premiere on November 8, 2019.
