If you're a fan of zombie-themed content, and Netflix's first original Korean series Kingdom was just sitting on your to-watch list, then this is the sign for you to start binge-watching the show.

Kingdom has been the talk of the town ever since the first season's premiere in January 2019. Set in Korea's Joseon Dynasty years after the Japanese invasion, the series presented the journey of a Crown Prince who tries to save his people from a strange disease.


What will be the plot of Kingdom: Ashin of the North?

Viewers should remember that Kingdom: Ashin of the North is not a season 3 of the Kingdom series. It is a special episode that follows the origin of the plague and will focus on the new mysterious character, Ashin.

"Tragedy, betrayal, and a mysterious discovery fuel a woman's vengeance for the loss of her tribe and family in this special episode of "Kingdom."

Many fans of the series had theorized that it was Ashin who purposely started spreading the virus. So this special episode might answer viewers' questions as the story of Ashin will be told.

Kingdom: Ashin of the North cast

Multi-awarded Korean actress Jun Ji-hyun (Gianna Jun) will be leading Kingdom: Ashin of the North. Jun Ji-hyun was well known for her main roles in the Korean drama My Love from the Star and the Korean movie My Sassy Girl. This will be her much-anticipated return to the small screen after five years with Legend of the Blue Sea.

Aside from Jun Ji-hyun, actor Park Byung-eun will return as Min Chi-rok, a member of the Royal Commandery who comes across the young Ashin in the freezing cold in the northern region. Kim Si-a will play the young Ashin while actors Kim Roi-ha and Koo Kyo-hwan will also be in the episode.
