Prince Harry made some surprising claims about his stepmother, Queen Consort Camilla, and his father, King Charles in Spare. The Duke of Sussex candidly detailed what it was like meeting Princess Diana's so-called nemesis for the first time. And he also admitted that he and Prince William tried to talk their dad out of marrying his now second wife.
During his interview with Anderson Cooper in 60 Minutes, Prince Harry talked about Queen Consort Camilla. He accused her of leaking some stories to the press since she was determined to rehabilitate her image following her affair with King Charles.
Royal Author Claims King Charles Never Intended To Keep His Promise To His Sons Regarding Queen Consort Camilla's Title
But according to royal author Christopher Andersen, Prince Harry made a huge mistake by attacking Queen Consort Camilla in his memoir and on his book tour.
He also claimed that King Charles once promised Prince Harry and Prince William that Queen Consort Camilla would never be queen as a sign of respect for Princess Diana. However, the monarch never really intended to keep his promise to his sons.
"For years, I have reported that despite what was being written in the British press, William and Harry resented Camilla. They did not approve of their father marrying her, and they did not want Camilla ever to become queen consort — the title that once would rightfully have belonged to their mother, Princess Diana. Now we know both William and Harry pleaded with their father not to marry Camilla… When the queen finally announced last year that she was backing Camilla as queen, William and Harry were completely blindsided. They believed their father would keep the promise he made long ago to the British people that Camilla would never be queen," he said (via Fox News).

Prince Harry's Stories About Queen Consort Camilla Couldn't Have Come At A Worse Time?
Andersen also said that Prince Harry's stories about Queen Consort Camilla couldn't have come at a worse time for King Charles and the British monarchy.
"The king needs to sell his subjects on their new queen consort, and despite all his efforts over the years, she remains unpopular. It is one thing to be told Camilla will be queen, it's another to watch her being crowned alongside King Charles in Westminster Abbey," he said.
Prince Harry Doesn't See Queen Consort Camilla As Her Evil Stepmother?
But during his interview on Good Morning America, Prince Harry clarified his stance on Queen Consort Camilla. He said that he never saw her as an evil stepmother.
"I have a huge amount of compassion for her, you know, being the third person within my parents' marriage. She had a reputation or an image to rehabilitate, and whatever conversations happened, whatever deals or trading was made right at the beginning, she was led to believe that that would be the best way to do it," he said (via People).
Prince Harry also said that he hasn't spoken to Queen Consort Camilla in a long time. But they are pleasant with each other every time they cross paths.
"She's my stepmother. I don't look at her as an evil stepmother. I see someone who married into this institution, and done everything she can to improve her own reputation and her own image, for her own sake," he said.
