King Charles III Will Officially Be Crowned Next Year

Even though King Charles III is the new royal title that Camilla Parker-Bowles’ husband is currently using, royal fans won’t see him have a coronation ceremony anytime soon. And the reason behind the decision to postpone it until sometime next year is understandable.

While speaking with People, history professor Kate Williams said that the royal family is still mourning the passing of Queen Elizabeth. As such, it wouldn’t make sense to have King Charles III’s coronation right now.

“He will be crowned probably in a year. The coronation ceremony usually takes a year because it's seen as unseemly, really, to have a coronation ceremony straight after someone's death. It's a long period of mourning,” she said.

King Charles III Predicted To Do A Good Job As The New Monarch Following Queen Elizabeth’s Death

Williams also said that he thinks King Charles III would do a good job with his role. And the fact that he waited decades to be crowned king means that he’s ready for what is to come.

“He's waited for this, and he's sure he can do a good job of it. People suggest that Charles will abdicate because William and Kate Middleton are more popular. That is not the case. He's absolutely convinced he can do a good job of it,” Williams said.

Queen Elizabeth Sparked Health Fears Days Before Her Passing

Days before Queen Elizabeth passed away, she met up with the new British Prime Minister Liz Truss at Buckingham Palace. The two women were photographed shaking hands during their first meeting.

At the time, photos of the monarch showed her with a bruised hand. And the markings caused royal fans to worry about Her Majesty.

Two days later, the palace released a statement saying that the queen’s doctors are worried about her. And they advised her to stay in Balmoral in the meantime.

Within hours, news of the queen’s passing made headlines. Her relatives were also in Balmoral with her when she took her last breath.

Prince Harry, who is already in England for a series of engagements, went to the queen’s home hours after she passed away. His wife, Meghan Markle stayed in London. But they released a statement mourning the monarch’s death via the Archewell website.

The first page of their site features the words, “In loving memory of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II 1926-2022.”
