I think we can all agree that Simu Liu has a huge chip on his shoulder now that he's set to lead his own Marvel Cinematic Universe film series but so far, fans have been behind him ahead of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Ring's release. There's no denying that Liu has a lot to prove especially now that the franchise is experiencing a true changing of the guard which is why Disney CEO Bob Chapek's recent comments about the upcoming MCU offering didn't sit quite well with the Canadian star.

To those unaware, during Disney's recent earnings call, Chapek described Shang-Chi as "an interesting experiment," a remark which Liu didn't take too kindly. In fact, the ever-so-outspoken actor took to social media to air his grievances and pretty much blasted the House of Mouse chief, something that shocked a lot of people.

Now, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige is sounding off amidst Chapek's "controversial" take on their film. During Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Ring's world premiere in Los Angeles (via The Hollywood Reporter), Feige stated that the entire situation is one giant misunderstanding between the two parties. The MCU producer explains: "He [Simu] is not a shy man. I think in that particular tweet you can see and I think everyone does a misunderstanding. It was not the intention. The proof is in the movie and we swing for the fences as we always do. With the amount of creative energy we put in and the budget, there's no expense spared to bring this origin story to the screen."

The project still has its fair share of skeptics but I'm pretty confident that Simu and the rest of Shang-Chi's cast will blow everyone away. The character is a welcome addition to the franchise and it's nice to have ourselves a little break from all the "usual" superhero offerings Marvel has given us through the years.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is scheduled to premiere in cinemas on September 3, 2021.
