How Is Katsugen Depicted in Hokkaido Gals Are Super Adorable?
Anime is known for featuring popular real-world items, and Hokkaido Gals Are Super Adorable has showcased a local delicacy in its storyline.
In Episode 1, Fuyuki Minami invites Tsubasa Shiki to her home. Tsubasa is taken aback when Fuyuki says that her parents are out for the day.
Like a true host, Fuyuki welcomes Tsubasa with open arms and makes him comfortable in the living room.
She then offers him katsugen, and it looks like it is Tsubasa’s first time trying the beverage.
Fuyuki is shown holding a carton of Soft Katsugen as produced and sold by Megmilk Snow Brand. Fuyuki tells him that she has been a fan of katsugen for a long time.
After a sip, Tsubasa becomes a fan too and notes that it tastes like a thick yogurt drink.
As Tsubasa relishes his first sip, Fuyuki ends up spilling katsugen over her chest. We then get a classic fanservice shot of Fuyuki’s cleavage with katsugen splattered all over her.
Fuyuki notes that it is sticky and proceeds to wash herself up while Tsubasa is all embarrassed. Tsubasa is shocked, and the moment almost pulverizes his heart.
Hokkaido Gals Are Super Adorable is currently streaming on Crunchyroll. The anime series is based on the manga of the same name by Kai Ikada.
The series follows Tsubasa, a high school boy, who has relocated to Kitami City in Hokkaido.
There, he runs into Fuyuki at a bus stop. Her solitary presence against the snowy backdrop, with bare legs braving the cold, captures Tsubasa’s heart.
