Kate Middleton and Prince Harry used to be very close. During his speech, the Duke of Sussex referenced the Princess of Wales as the sister that he never had. But in recent years, it seems that the in-laws’ relationship changed, especially after Prince Harry wed Meghan Markle.
Last month, Kate Middleton and Prince Harry reunited with each other following Queen Elizabeth’s death. They greeted the mourners and those that left flowers outside the palace shortly after the queen’s passing. However, the two had very little to no interactions at all during the outing.
Kate Middleton Was Still Not On Good Terms With Prince Harry During Their Recent Reunion
According to body language expert Judi James, Middleton’s refusal to make eye contact with Prince Harry proved that their relationship is still strained. And this is sadder than all the reports saying that Middleton and Markle have not repaired their relationship because Middleton and the Duke of Sussex used to be very close.
“Kate seems to be hanging back as Harry and Meghan stand waiting while William discusses the next moves with an organizer or PR. It is William who beckons his wife to join the group for a photo, and when she does the real interest might be the lack of eye contact or engagement between her and Harry. Kate and Harry had always been very close, even when Harry and William were at loggerheads, so this looks even sadder than anything between Kate and Meghan,” James told Express.

Kate Middleton Tired Of Helping Prince William And Prince Harry Repair Their Relationship
James added that it’s possible for Middleton to have reached a point where she is already tired from trying to help Prince William and Prince Harry’s relationship. After all, she was the one who organized a conversation between the brothers during Prince Philip’s funeral.
Royal photographer Arthur Edwards also claimed that Prince William must have been the one who invited Prince Harry and Markle to join them on the walkabout. If not for the Prince of Wales, Middleton and Prince Harry wouldn’t have reunited during that special moment.
“When Meghan got out of the car, I was amazed. But obviously, William has got to do something about it. He spoke to his brother and said, ‘Let’s make a combined effort here.’ They did it because if Meghan had turned up for the funeral on Monday all the papers would be talking about Meghan and the king [did] not want that. He wanted it all about the queen and nothing else. No distractions,” he said (via Cheat Sheet).
Former Fab Four’s Reunion Dubbed ‘Awkward’
Following their reunion, a source told People that the moment shared between the former Fab Four could be dubbed as awkward. And the same can be said about the photos that were released after their outing.
“It was awkward. Both couples found it hard. They were in a stoic spirit of just getting through it for the queen,” the source said.
Shortly after they paid tribute to the queen and greeted the mourners, Prince Harry and Middleton reunite with each other again a handful of times throughout the queen’s funeral. However, it’s unclear when the in-laws will see each other again.
