After many almost-confessions, Season 3 of the school romance ended with Miyuki confessing not through words but through a grand gesture, and Kaguya responds in kind with their first kiss.

Miyuki has cleverly managed to eliminate all distractions and get Kaguya alone with him, at which point he triggers a rain of heart-shaped balloons.

Remember that hearts are an important motif in the culture festival, with many students believing that those exchanging them will become a couple!

In that context, then, Miyuki's gesture almost feels like a marriage proposal. While it isn't quite that, he did ask Kaguya to go to Stanford with him.

But even though Kaguya has accepted and the two are now a couple, as their holding hands in the final scene indicates, Kaguya also notes that Miyuki hasn't exactly confessed his feelings with words.

While their mutual feelings are now known, they are both excited and confused by the sudden change in their romantic lives, and Kaguya-sama: Love is War Season 4 might feature new fun shenanigans for Kaguya and Miyuki to make one another be a bit more explicit about their feelings.

For now, a crisis has been averted, as Tsubame wants to get to know Ishigami before deciding whether to accept his love confession. Ishigami was spared from heartbreak leaving Kaguya and Miyuki free to enjoy their own romance.

For his part, of course, Ishigami doesn't even know his actions were as good as a love confession, so he's up for a surprise, whatever his love interest decides.

Then, of course, there's his final scene with Iino. While Ishigami and Iino haven't been getting along, Ishigami was sad to see her miss the bonfire she fought for in order to patrol the school, so he recorded it for her!

Their encounter involves the exchange of a heart-shaped item - and we've already outlined what this means!

In Kaguya and Miyuki's case, the exchange of hearts was simply an extravagant ultra-romantic gesture between two young people already in love.

But how will Iino and Ishigami's exchange be interpreted? Is the exchange of hearts just an urban legend, or does it have a deeper meaning in-universe? We won't say it here, but you can read the manga to find out!
