The past weeks have seen a lot of discussion about Jujutsu Kaisen’s reported production issues. Now, it seems that some cracks are showing as Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 42 will get a streaming delay in Japan.
Jujutsu Kaisen’s official X (formerly Twitter) account revealed that the anime’s next episode will be delayed by nearly 18 hours from its original release time. This means fans will need to wait almost a day to watch it.
That’s only the case with the next episode’s streaming release though, as its TV broadcast will be unaffected.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2: Episode 42 Delay on Japanese Streaming Platforms
Earlier today, Jujutsu Kaisen shared the first preview screenshots for its next episode. Along with it came the confirmation of its TV broadcast, which is still scheduled for November 23 at 11:56 PM Japan time.
Shortly after the broadcast was announced, the anime’s X revealed that the episode’s streaming release was delayed.
Episode 42 is now set to be released on Japanese streaming platforms on November 24 at 6 PM Japan time (4 AM Eastern / 1 AM Pacific).
The new streaming release schedule announcement did not come with a reason, prompting some fans to speculate about the show’s reported production issues.
There’s no official announcement yet regarding the anime’s streaming release schedule internationally. Typically, new episodes are released shortly after their Japanese TV broadcast.
Given the streaming delay in Japan, though, chances are that the anime’s Crunchyroll release will also be delayed by almost a day.

Jujutsu Kaisen Reported Production Issues May Lead to Hiatus
Over the past weeks, Jujutsu Kaisen fans have talked about reports of animators and other staff members being overworked, enough that there were rumblings about a production breakdown.
This recent delay is fairly minor as other shows get delayed by a week or more. That’s not to say that Jujutsu Kaisen is in the clear though. After all, Zom 100 had something similar happen to it.
Last season, an episode of Zom 100 got delayed by a day on streaming platforms. Soon though, the anime got more and more delays, culminating in a lengthy hiatus.
Considering the streaming delay coupled with the concern regarding the show’s staff, some fans are already expecting the show to go on hiatus.
Instead of being disappointed by a potential delay, many fans are hoping that the series goes on a break to give the animators more time to rest.
