After the release of Volume 22 back in March, Jujutsu Kaisen finally revealed the cover of Volume 23, and it features the special-grade sorcerer, Yuki Tsukumo.
Yuki being on the cover of the next volume is fitting as the volume compiles the chapters where Yuki finally shows off her skills in a fight against one of the series’ biggest villains.
Of course, while Yuki is a fan favorite, there is still plenty of debate about what happened during this part of the manga.

Yuki Tsukumo’s Story Still a Hot Topic Among Fans
Jujutsu Kaisen has only four special-grade sorcerers: Satoru Gojo, Suguru Geto, Yuta Okkotsu, and Yuki Tsukumo. Finally, in the Stars and Oil chapters, Yuki showed off her powers as a special-grade sorcerer.
Specifically, this part of the manga revealed Yuki’s Star Range abilities that let her give herself virtual mass. This technique proved to be powerful, even against Kenjaku.
Their fight ended with Kenjaku defeating Yuki and subsequently killing her, which proved to be a divisive moment for fans.
As with many shonen titles, some fans still believe that there’s a chance Yuki can come back, though if she is well and truly dead, many fans think that Yuki is a character with lots of wasted potential.
So far, three out of the four special-grade sorcerers have shown their impressive abilities.
And while Yuki went toe-to-toe with Kenjaku, the fact that she was beaten in just a few chapters made it seem like she wasn’t that powerful.

Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 23 Features Yuki on the Cover
Despite many readers being disappointed by how Yuki was taken down, many were still happy to see that the series’ 23rd volume features Yuki.
The new cover was shared on the official Jujutsu Kaisen Twitter account, and it features Yuki posing with a background of hearts.
Fans pointed out that this cover is a reference to the previous cover that features Todo. This makes sense given that Todo is the pupil of Yuki.
Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 23 is set to release in Japan on July 4, 2023. The volume will also be released in the US, though there’s no release date yet from Viz Media.
Given that Jujutsu Kaisen volumes are released in English usually around a year after their Japanese release, it’s likely that Volume 23 will come out in mid-2024 in the US.
