Is the Jujutsu Kaisen Manga Over?
The Jujutsu Kaisen manga is ongoing, but 2023 might be its final year.
The beloved fantasy manga has been coming out since 2018 and, to this day, it counts 21 volumes, plus some chapters not collected in volumes.
Is the Jujutsu Kaisen Manga Ending Soon?
Jujutsu Kaisen is reportedly ending relatively soon, possibly within 2023. Although, the finalized number of chapters or ending date has not yet been announced.
In the Jump Festa '23 event that took place in 2022, Jujutsu Kaisen creator Gege Akutami reportedly hinted that the manga is ending soon.
Akutami is believed to have encouraged fans to support the series for about another year.
Such a statement would be in line with a comment the creator made in 2021. In a February 2021 interview, Akutami mentioned the probability of Jujutsu Kaisen ending within about two years from that statement.
Of course, this isn't a binding declaration, nor was Akutami too confident about this.
As of February 2023 -- two years after that original comment, the manga looks like it still has several chapters to go.
However, given the latest developments, we don't think these chapters will be very many.

When Will Jujutsu Kaisen End?
There is no set finale date for the Jujutsu Kaisen manga, but we wouldn't be surprised if it ended at some point in mid or late 2023. This would be in line with Gege Akutami's expressed hope last year that fans will stick with the manga for another year.
Moreover, such a timeline wouldn't venture too far from the initial 2021 hope to end the manga within two years.
At this point, we think that the story itself is slowly moving toward closure. The Culling Game arc dragged a bit but the focus has now shifted back to Yuji and Megumi.
For a long time, the driving question of the manga was whether Yuji Itadori is going to die. It might not be possible to keep up with this question for much longer without the risk of the manga appearing low-stakes.
More importantly, Jujutsu Kaisen recently featured a shocking twist when it abruptly ended Yuji and Sukuna's symbiotic relationship.
Now, Sukuna has taken over Megumi's body, and there are serious worries about the latter's safety.
While we have to wait for further chapters before drawing conclusions, we think this twist is particularly hard to come back from.
A simple return to the status quo, with Yuji managing Sukuna just fine and Megumi totally safe, would likely feel cheap.
Whenever the day of the manga finale might be, it is going to be a sad day for fans who have followed the series since the beginning.
With that being said, there's always a sense of satisfaction in a beloved series that ends well.
