The Jujutsu Kaisen anime may not have been the centerpiece of Jump Festa 2024, but there was an interesting new development. There, Gege Akutami hinted that the Jujutsu Kaisen manga might end in 2024.

Akutami wasn’t personally at the event, but he shared a message at the series’ special stage, mentioning that Jump Festa 2024 may be the last event where the Jujutsu Kaisen manga is still being serialized.

This may be sad news for readers who aren’t ready for the series to end, but it’s not an outright ending confirmation. Plus, the event did at least treat fans to a showcase of the manga’s impressive next volume cover.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 continues to be one of the most-talked-about anime of the year, but the manga is just as exciting. After all, the developments over the past months were as game-changing as the Shibuya Incident.

The manga’s next volume exemplifies this. After Volume 24 put Hana Kurusu front-and-center, the Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 25 cover was revealed at Jump Festa 2024, and it features Sukuna in Megumi Fushiguro’s body.

As the cover pretty much spoils, this next volume will compile the pivotal chapters where Sukuna takes over Megumi’s body, which is easily the biggest event in the manga in years.

Also revealed at the event was the fact that Gege Akutami’s series now has over 90 million copies in circulation. This cements the series’ place as one of the biggest modern hits of Shonen Jump.

The eye-catching new volume was the big announcement for the series, but Gege Akutami also dropped a bombshell.

In a handwritten message shared at the event, Akutami said “this will probably be the last Jump Festa event where the manga is still serializing.”

This indicates that Akutami has plans to end the manga in 2024. Of course, this doesn’t mean the manga’s ending will happen next year. After all, Akutami has mentioned similar things in previous years.

Based on the manga’s events, the story may wrap up before December 2024. For now, it remains to be seen if Akutami will actually conclude the manga next year.

In the meantime, the anime’s second season continues to get new episodes weekly. Volume 25 of the manga will be released on January 4, 2024.
