Yet another milestone has been secured by Jujutsu Kaisen 0 as it beats Evangelion 3.0 + 1.0: Thrice Upon a Time as the new highest-grossing anime film of 2021 after it reaches the ten-billion-yen mark, even when most of its revenue was in 2022, it is still considered to retroact to the date of its release which was in Christmas Eve last year.
In a report from Oricon, the prequel movie of Director Sunghoo Park garnered over seven million tickets thus bagging more than 10.4 billion yen or around $90.6 million since it was released in theaters. With this, it beats out Evangelion 3.0 + 1.0: Thrice Upon a Time which bagged about 10.2 billion yen, approximately $89.6 million from being hailed as the highest-grossing film of 2021.
Considering that Jujutsu Kaisen 0 now has an official release date in the US and Canada which will be happening on March 18, 2022 and it would be out on around 1,500 theaters to which sales would be coming out on February 25, 2022, this current box office of the film would be bigger and greater once it comes out.
The prequel movie centers on Yuta Okkotsu who has a childhood best friend and love lost to a car accident, Rika, and with a ring containing a promise, Rika remains with him beyond death, being a cursed spirit who follows him always. When Yuta comes into the Jujutsu Academy, he encounters Gojo Satoru who gives him lessons on how to manage a cursed spirit like Rika’s.

Jujutsu Kaisen’s first season can be streamed online on Crunchyroll in its original Japanese audio with English subtitles for the price of $9.99 a month, or $79.99 a year. It is from the pages of the supernatural shōnen manga series of the same name by Gege Akutami.
Jujutsu Kaisen 0 comes out in the US and Canada on March 18, 2022. Tickets would be out on February 25, 2022.
