Warner Bros. has released the first trailer for the highly-anticipated sequel Joker: Folie à Deux.

Joaquin Phoenix is returning to reprise his Oscar-winning role of Arthur Fleck/Joker while Todd Phillips is also back in the director's chair. They are joined by Lady Gaga, who is taking on the role of Harley Quinn.

Last week, the first poster for the film was finally unveiled featuring Phoenix and Gaga dancing. It was also reported recently that it is going to be a jukebox musical and have at least 15 cover songs that the characters will perform.

Joker 2: 'Folie à Deux' Releases First Trailer

Today, Warner Bros. has finally unveiled the first trailer for Joker 2: Folie à Deux, the highly-anticipated sequel that will continue the maniacal journey of the iconic DC villain.

It gave fans their very first look at the return of Phoenix as Arthur Fleck, who has been incarcerated at the Arkham Asylum, and the introduction of Gaga as Harley Quinn, his love interest.

The trailer, which was accompanied by the classic song "What the World Needs Now Is Love," focused on Arthur's life in Arkham Asylum and his eventual meet-up with Gaga's Harley Quinn, who is also a patient in the facility.

We saw a romance blossoming between the two characters and a glimpse at the musical numbers that they are performing while chaos is also seemingly unraveling in Gotham City.

Overall, the preview looks promising and it showed signs from what we've been hearing for the last few years regarding its musical elements even if they didn't show any glimpse of the characters singing.

It is likely that the future trailers will show more hints of the film's musical elements and give us an overall picture of why it is incorporated in the sequel.

Joker: Folie à Deux is scheduled for release in theaters on October 4.
