Joe Russo Finally Breaks Silence on Scarlett Johansson's Recent Black Widow Controversy

Scarlett Johansson's shocking lawsuit against Disney over Black Widow's release model is definitely one of the biggest entertainment news that rocked Hollywood this year. Since the issue was made public, both parties have gone back-and-forth over the last couple of weeks and it sure looked like the relationship between the Marvel actress and the House of Mouse has completely soured.

Thankfully, the legal battle between them never really took off, and earlier this month, it was reported that they've finally agreed to a settlement that will guarantee Johansson $40 million. That's actually great because if things ultimately went south, the future of the Marvel film franchise would have been affected as well.

There have been rumors that Disney's issues with Johansson have opted the Russo Brothers to reevaluate their MCU future but that was never confirmed to be true. Now, one-half of the successful directing duo is finally speaking up just days after both parties have agreed to a settlement. In an interview with Variety, Joe Russo says he's glad the entire drama has come to an end and he believes the entire falling out between them resulted in a "significant change" in the business.

He said: "I'm glad that the lawsuit's resolved. I do think it was indicative of significant change that's been happening. The resolution speaks volumes about the respect for artists moving forward in this changing landscape."

Well, you know what they say, all's well that ends well and while it seemed for a time that the issues between Scarlett and Disney will never be resolved, I'm quite relieved that the settlement finally happened. I mean, it's a win-win for everyone involved. Disney gets to keep an A-list star on their roster and Scarlett gets to do more projects with them, even possibly a return to the MCU now that the multiverse is coming into play.

Black Widow is now streaming for free on Disney+.
