Joe Manganiello Officially Confirmed to Play Deathstroke in Ben Affleck's Batman Movie

Last month, it was reported that Deathstroke will be the primary villain of Ben Affleck's upcoming Batman film, and there's word that Joe Manganiello (One Tree Hill, True Blood) will be playing DC's badass assassin/mercenary, but no official statements were released regarding the rumored casting. Today, the Wall Street Journal has confirmed that he will indeed play Deathstroke.

Affleck recently shared a test footage showing Manganiello in costume, but he didn't confirm his casting. WSJ says:

DC Entertainment president and chief creative officer Geoff Johns confirmed the casting in his first interview discussing his new role overseeing Warner Bros.' movies based on DC Comics characters.

Johns is currently co-writing the script with Affleck, but no word on whether or not the classic villain will make an appearance in next year's Justice League film. While there's still no exact date for the new Batman film, it's expected to release sometime in 2018.
