Jeremy Renner tried to get his character, Hawkeye, killed off multiple times during the Avengers movie, RadioTimes reports. Renner said he was incredibly frustrated with his role in the movie during an interview at London Film and Comic-Con over the weekend. He says. "In the first Avengers… I was just getting to know who Hawkeye was, and then zap, I go round like a zombie, I'm like Loki's minion. And I'm still not even sure who Hawkeye was at that point. So I'm a little frustrated, because I was so excited to figure out who Hawkeye was."

He was so eager to be set free from the movie he would pretend to have a heart attack during his scenes. I'd just be walking with… Scarlett Johansson, and just like be ugh,"" Renner said while clutching his chest dramatically in demonstration. When the movie staff would ask him what he was doing, he responded ""I'm giving you an option, if you just want to kick me out of this movie. Just you know, at any given moment, if you wanna kill me off, daddy's gonna be having a heart attack."

However, Renner is now grateful is character wasn't killed off. ""I don't really want him to die now. I really got to explore him a lot, and I can't wait to explore him more, and there's some really cool ideas coming up". He made what is presumably a joke in saying some of the cool ideas were "great deaths! Amazing ways to die."

It's a good thing for Marvel fans that Renner didn't get his way with Avengers, though many Hawkeye fans are shared Renner's frustration over Hawkeye being brainwashed in his first appearance. Do you think Hawkeye should have been killed in Avengers? What do you think the future hold for the character?
