Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War Will Only Be One Film, Not Two

Disney just announced that the Avengers: Infinity War film will only be one film, not the two-part format that they originally planned, Variety reports.

On Friday, Disney confirmed that it's stll planning to release Avengers: Infinity War as planned on May 4, 2018. But what was slated to be the story's second part, Avengers: Infinity War Part II has now been rename as a United Avengers project while still holding the May 3, 2019 release date.

The two "Infinity War" movies were announced together in October, 2014, with both directed by Anthony and Joe Russo. Back in May, the Russo bothers said that the third and fourth Avengers films were being retitled to clarify that they would be two separate films rather than one large story split into two parts.

It's most likely that the fourth Avengers film will avert its focus from the ultimate conflict against the supervillain Thanos, or perhaps we'll see a different kind of conflict against the same villain. With the next two Avengers films only set to launch only a year apart, it's very likely that their stories will be strongly connected to each other even though they will focus on different plots.
