BLACKPINK Jennie will officially debut as an actress under Jennie Ruby Jane name in The Weeknd’s HBO series, The Idol.

The highly-anticipated series finally released its latest teaser featuring Jennie. It marked its second teaser which The Weeknd presented during his Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium concert on Saturday.

Ahead of its release, fans became curious about the meaning behind the name Jennie Ruby Jane.

BLINKs have been talking about Jennie’s “perfect move” when she chose to make Jennie Ruby Jane her stage name. The meaning behind the name has also been the talk of the town, as there have been theories and suggestions about its origin.

BLACKPINK fans recalled that Jennie revealed in one of the group’s fan meetings that Ruby Jane is her middle name. However, some assumed that it was her nickname when she was still residing in New Zealand.

In fact, a friend also noted that fact when she moved to Korea to train under YG Entertainment.

She also owns a necklace that read “Ruby Jane” in Arabic.

Regardless of where Ruby Jane truly came from, fans expressed how perfectly planned Jennie’s career is since she decided to debut with another name instead of sticking with Jennie Kim.

BLACKPINK Jennie Excited To Appear in The Idol

Jennie surely shares the same excitement as her fans that she could not contain it during her interview with the Korean news agency, Yonhap.

The SOLO hitmaker revealed in a statement that she is excited to make her acting debut in Hollywood.

“I found the script very intriguing, so I wanted to be part of the series. I feel very excited. I’ll work hard, so please watch me with affection,” she said.

HBO first confirmed her casting on Twitter on July 18. Her IMDb page has also been updated, revealing that she would appear in the series six episodes.

The Idol release date is yet to be announced.
