Star Wars: The Force Awakens may have set up a new generation of Empire members and freedom fighters, but it's clear that the movie still has ties to the original trilogy. A lot of familiar faces returned in the movie including Leia Organa, Han Solo, Chewie, Luke Skywalker, and now, it looks like Jedi Master Yoda will also be returning to the big screen.
According to Indie Revolver, it has heard that Yoda voice actor and puppeteer Frank Oz has recorded new audio for the highly anticipated sequel to The Force Awakens, Episode VIII. Also, while Oz hasn't done any visual work for the film, it could soon change. The site claims that The Force Awakens had to construct a Yoda puppet in case the Jedi Master's appearance is needed. This means we might hear Yoda's voice or Force ghost in the movie. However, there's a chance that Yoda's voice will be in Episode VIII via audio manipulation, just like what they did for Rey's Force vision in The Force Awakens.
This certainly aligns with reports back in April where Oz was seen headed for the Pinewood set.
There's a lot of possibilities where Yoda could pop up in the movie, but of course it would involve another living Jedi around, which is Mark Hamill's Luke Skywalker. It's likely that Yoda could appear while Luke is training Rey and offer him a bit of help on that front. If rumors are true that Luke went into hiding after failing in his training with Kylo Ren, he definitely needs some confidence boost from Yoda.
Nevertheless, wherever scene Yoda could appear, I'm sure fans will love that he's simply returning to the franchise. The character has been an icon since the ‘80s, and any chance of introducing him back on the big screen is very much welcome.
Star Wars: Episode VIII will hit theaters on December 15, 2017.
