For months, there have been rumors that Jason Momoa is set to continue in the new DCU franchise with the new role of Lobo and fans have been supportive of the idea of him playing the fan-favorite DC character when it undergoes a reboot.

So far, James Gunn has not confirmed Momoa's casting in the DCU as Lobo, but the actor himself has teased that he is in talks with DC Studios regarding his future in the franchise.

It is also becoming apparent that Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will be the last time that we will ever see Momoa play the beloved DCEU hero since Gunn has confirmed that the DCU canon will start from scratch.

Now, a new report has shed some light on Momoa's future in the DCU and what we have suspected for months has been right all along.

A new report from Variety surrounding the drama that happened in the making of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom claimed that Momoa has engaged in negotiations to play Lobo in the new DCU.

He will likely debut in the role in the first DCU film Superman: Legacy or in a standalone movie instead.

In addition, as we suspected, the report confirmed that none of the actors from the DCEU's Justice League films (Momoa, Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller) are expected to reprise their roles in the DCU.

After months of rumors and speculations, it is looking like Momoa's role as Lobo in the DCU is starting to become a reality since the report indicated that he was in negotiations all along to continue in the DC franchise for a different character.

However, due to the ongoing actors' strike, it is likely that Momoa temporarily stopped the talks with DC Studios and they might continue again once it is over.

If Momoa does end up playing Lobo, there is a possibility that they will announce it after the release of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom so that they can have the actor do his promotional obligations first (if the strike is over by that time) and cherish his final moments as the DC hero.

Fans need to be patient first for any updates regarding Momoa's potential new role in the DCU since it might take a while before we'll hear a definitive update, but there's no doubt that they would love to see it happen.
