James Gunn Wasn't Consulted For THAT Avengers: Infinity War Death

Anyone who's seen Avengers: Infinity War knows that the film took its toll on the Guardians of the Galaxy. Characters like Star-Lord and Gamora went through interesting arcs in the movie, even if it leads to the former being hated by fans. James Gunn, the director of Guardians of the Galaxy, was heavily involved in a number of ways so it's surprising to know what he was not involved in one particular part.

In the Happy Sad Confused Podcast, the Russo Brothers revealed that they did not consult Gunn when they decided to kill off most of the Guardians, specifically Gamora.

By the film's end, only Rocket and Nebula remain from the group, with Drax, Mantis, and Star-Lord getting wiped out by Thanos, who killed Gamora himself to get the Soul Stone. During the podcast, the directing duo revealed that they got no pushback from Marvel Studios when they pitched Gamora dying.

While they didn't consult with Gunn about Gamora's death, they feel that someone in upper management like Kevin Feige would tell the Guardians director about it. Still, it's kind of odd how he wasn't consulted since he and Chris Pratt altered one scene in the film for the better.

Avengers: Infinity War is now showing in theaters.
