James Gunn Possibly Teased Lobo's DCU Debut

People are understandably hyped up about James Gunn being named co-CEO of DC Studios since it opens up a lot of possibilities for the studio. So did the Suicide Squad director just tease one major update on DCU's upcoming projects? Gunn's first post on Mastodon is a nod to DC's favorite alien bad boy and fans are convinced the filmmaker is confirming Lobo's big debut on DCU.

James Gunn has joined Mastodon, a social media platform similar to Twitter. To celebrate his arrival, the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 director's first toot (yes, the posts are called toots) is a classic image of Lobo.

Naturally, fans were quick to pick up on the post and are now convinced that Lobo is the first DC comic book character that Gunn will bring into the DCU.

But which DCU project will feature Lobo? Although we're hoping that the interstellar mercenary will get his own solo project (a series following his exploits would be *chef's kiss*), there is a bigger chance he will first be introduced in a major DC flick as the main villain. With that in mind, there is a possibility Lobo will face off against Superman in Man of Steel 2.

Although Lobo has not yet appeared in the DCEU (or DCU), the character already made his live-action debut in an official TV series. Lobo was introduced in the second season of Krypton where he was played by Emmett J. Scanlan.

For now, it has not yet been confirmed whether Lobo is making his DCU debut or if he will be the main villain in Man of Steel 2. In the meantime, Henry Cavill is confirmed to return as Superman and the sequel is set to be the first big feature for DCU.
