James Gunn Comments on SDCC 2020 Cancellation

It took some time before it could happen but it's official: the highly anticipated San Diego Comic-Con 2020 has been cancelled due to the Coronavirus outbreak. It's a sad decision but James Gunn has a hopeful message for everyone who will be missing the convention this year.

Gunn took to his official Twitter account to comment on the SDCC 2020 cancellation. Take a look at his tweet below.

"It's the right thing to do, but I'm still sad to hear about #SDCC being cancelled this year. I'll miss all of you. We as creators, studios, and publishers will have to find ways to make it up to you the fans in other ways," Gunn wrote.

It's a thought that most people agree with. After all, safety should be the priority during COVID-19. Although some were hoping that the world will be a better place by the time that SDCC 2020 rolls around later this year, it isn't a sure thing. With that in mind, it is best that the convention has been cancelled.

There's a good reason why people are disappointed about SDCC 2020 being cancelled. After all, the convention may have been the perfect place for Gunn to showcase the first images and trailer for his upcoming movie The Suicide Squad. For now, the filmmaker and his crew are working remotely on the post-production for the film. Hopefully, we'll be getting better news in the future.

The Suicide Squad is still scheduled for release on August 6, 2021.
