Ivanna Sakhno Compares Working on Ahsoka to Filming a Star Wars Movie

One of the most interesting things about the Ahsoka trailer was the mysterious Shin Hati, a former Padawan who has turned to the Dark Side. After all, the character is played by Ivanna Sakhno, who appears to be thoroughly enjoying her role. So it's no surprise that the Pacific Rim: Uprising actor has great things to say about the new Star Wars series and compares working on the show to shooting a full-length movie.

Ivanna Sakhno recently attended Star Wars Celebration 2023 where she spoke to Collider about working on Ahsoka. Sakhno expressed her excitement about the series, pointing out that it feels more like a film than a series.

"I think, the entire show is one, and it’s really a film, to me watching it’s one story," she said. The Spy Who Dumped Me star then praised Ahsoka creator Dave Filoni for weaving a truly amazing tale.

"I think Dave has done a brilliant job understanding lightness and darkness as a spectrum within, and I just trust him wholeheartedly. So I think what I love about him is that he loves silence, and he loves speaking through silence," Sakhno said.

Not much is known about Shin Hati but it was confirmed that she is an original character created for the series. Shin is a former Padawan and is the apprentice of the former Jedi Baylan Skoll who is now an ally of Grand Admiral Thrawn. Although it is unclear why Shin and Baylan turned to the Dark Side, Baylan is clearly out for blood and orders Shin to go after Ahsoka Tano.

Ahsoka will bring back Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano and Hayden Christensen as Darth Vader. The new series will introduce Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger, and Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll. Lars Mikkelsen has also been confirmed to play the live-action version of Thrawn, the character he voiced in Star Wars Rebels.

Ahsoka has not yet been given an official release date but is expected to premiere on Disney+ in August 2023.
