The first season of OBX premiered on Netflix in April 2020, but the show didn't explode in popularity until the release of Season 2 last year, when it was ranked number one in the Nielsen ratings U.S. streaming chart, who announced that the series had been viewed for a total of 2.1 billion minutes of its 20 episodes.

In December 2021, Netflix renewed OBX for Season 3, and many fans are hoping to watch the Pogues return to their TV screens this summer.

No, it's highly unlikely that Outer Banks Season 3 will be released this summer. According to the latest filming update, it looks like filming has already wrapped for OBX 3. In August, Chase Stokes shared a hint on Instagram Stories that seems to suggest that filming has wrapped.

In September 2022, filming for Season 3 officially wrapped. The teen drama will have to go through post-production stage before Netflix releases the third season.

According to a rumor from Netflix Daily Updates on Facebook, it has been reported that OBX 3 will be released on Netflix sometime in December 2022, but the streamer hasn't officially confirmed this.

Netflix's list of movies and TV shows arriving in September 2022 doesn't include Outer Banks Season 3. There are also no clear signs that it will be released this September, so don't expect the show to return anytime soon.
