Is My Happy Marriage Based on a Light Novel?
Yes, My Happy Marriage is based on a light novel series that began as a web novel on Shosetsuka ni Naro's user-generated novel publishing website.
Specifically, My Happy Marriage is based on Akumi Agitogi's Watashi no Shiawase na Kekkon Japanese fantasy light novel series. The light novel series is aimed at female readers.
Soon after, Fujimi Shobo began publishing My Happy Marriage under its Fujimi L. Bunko banner. Yen Press later bought it for English release.
According to Yen Press, the plot of My Happy Marriage is as follows:
Is THIS MARRIAGE A BLESSING? OR A CURSE? Born talentless to a noble family famous for their supernatural abilities, Miyo Saimori is forced into an existence of servitude by her abusive stepmother.
When Miyo finally comes of marriageable age, though, her hopes of being whisked away to a better life crumble after she discovers her fiancé’s identity: Kiyoka Kudou, a commander apparently so cold and cruel that his previous would-be brides all fled within three days of their engagements.
With no home to return to, Miyo resigns herself to her fate and soon finds that her pale and beautiful husband-to-be is anything but the monster she expected. As they slowly open their hearts to each other, both realize the other may be their chance at finding true love and happiness.

Is My Happy Marriage Based on a Manga?
As explained above, My Happy Marriage is based on a light novel and not a manga. But due to the success of Akumi Agitogi’s light novel series, My Happy Marriage eventually inspired a manga adaptation.
The My Happy Marriage manga is also written by Akumi Agitogi, with illustrations by Rito Kohsaka (Planet Guardian, Sekai Seifuku Children).
The manga adaptation began its serialization on Square Enix’s Gangan Online service. It was later released by Square Enix in North America for English publication.
Similar to the light novel, the My Happy Marriage manga continues to gain positive reception.
It has placed in various manga rankings in Japan, including the sixth Next Manga Awards, the best manga for female readers, the Nationwide Bookstore Employees’ Recommended Comics of 2021, as well as the 2022 Book of the Year by Da Vinci magazine.

Is the My Happy Marriage Manga Finished or Still Ongoing?
Yes, the My Happy Marriage manga is still ongoing, with no signs of ending anytime soon. So far, the manga has released four volumes since its original run on December 20, 2018.
The first volume of My Happy Marriage was released on September 12, 2019, while the most recent volume was released on November 11, 2022.
There’s still no news about the release date of the fifth volume of My Happy Marriage at the time of writing.
Is the My Happy Marriage Light Novel Finished or Still Ongoing?
Yes, the My Happy Marriage light novel is still ongoing, similar to its manga adaptation. As of writing, the light novel has released seven volumes since its original run on January 15, 2019.
The first light novel volume of My Happy Marriage was released on January 15, 2019, while the most recent volume was released on July 14, 2023.
The eighth light novel volume of My Happy Marriage will be released on March 15, 2024.
