During the New Year, Watchmen actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan had teased that he would be making a ‘masked comeback' in 2020 and even shared an image of his old Comedian mask. While we don't know what he means specifically by a comeback, we have reason to believe that it could be for the upcoming Flash movie.
It was reported earlier today that The Flash movie is still planning to adapt the Flashpoint Paradox story, and if you read your comics, you'll know that the story is infamous for introducing us to Thomas Wayne's Batman.
Morgan himself, who played Thomas Wayne in Batman v Superman, has been vocal about a return to the DCEU, but since The Flash has been undergoing development hell for the past couple of years, we haven't been getting any significant updates on whether he'll suit up as Batman or not.
With the Flash movie finally moving forward with director Andy Muschietti, there's no doubt in my mind that they'll finally give us Thomas Wayne's Batman. After all, this is probably the only chance DC will be able to bring the character to screen—that is unless they want a Flashpoint redux but with the entire Justice League this time. I would personally love to see Wonder Woman and Mera duke it out on the big screen.
Again, Morgan's return as Batman in The Flash is just speculation on my part, but it kind of makes sense, especially with Morgan's teaser at the beginning of the year. Hopefully, he gives us an update soon.
Catch The Flash when it finally hits theaters July 1, 2022.
