After all the Halloween-related shows and movies, a new show has been released on Netflix and it's no longer a thriller.
Inside Man is a newly released drama that stars Stanley Tucci as a death row prisoner named Jefferson Grieff. If you're curious about this show, we have the answers to your commonly asked questions.
Is Inside Man Based On A True Story?
Netflix has been on a roll in releasing true crime shows lately with hits like Dahmer-- Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, The Watcher, and Vatican Girl: The Disappearance of Emanuela Orlandi. With these titles, it's only natural to wonder whether Inside Man is based on a real story.
But unlike the other titles, Inside Man is not based on a true story. The BBC series was created by Steven Moffat as an original concept.
Moffat is most famous for being a co-creator and writer of Sherlock, which starred Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman. His interest in taking a different approach to detective fiction is what drove him to create Inside Man.
What Is Inside Man Story About?
The official synopsis of the show reads:
"An American death row prisoner with a sideline in solving mysteries helps a young British journalist search for a friend who's suddenly disappeared."
Inside Man follows the life of Jefferson Grieff (played by Stanley Tucci) as he awaits his fate in prison. With his past career as a criminologist, he decides to spend his last days trying to work on unsolved cases inside the jail.
How Many Episodes Are On Inside Man?
The story of Inside Man is gripping but is pretty short. There is a total of four episodes in the entire show. But the show does makeup with the total runtime of each episode, which is roughly an hour long.
In an interview with Radio Times, Moffat revealed that there could be more to the story depending on the viewers' reception.
"The story will end in four episodes. It's done by the end of that. As to whether or not you could ever spin off anything or do any kind of sequel? I don't know at this moment."
Will There Be An Inside Man Season 2?
As of this writing, Netflix has not yet renewed Inside Man for a second season. The show does not even have a cliffhanger ending that will give you something to look forward to in the future. But there is a post-credits scene that will make you ask questions.
Moffat also said: "Television is littered with shows that had one season and pretended they could carry on -- I would never want to be one of those, where you're so excited to get a phone call about doing another run that you do it and then realize, actually, the story is finished."
