One of the many MCU shows that are currently in the works is Secret Invasion which will star Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn's Talos as they navigate the Skrulls who have infiltrated all aspects of life on Earth. Just like any other MCU project, the exact plot details are still under wraps. However, it looks like a character from Black Panther will show up in the series as spilled recently by one of its stars.
Per ComicBook.com, during the recent Samuel L. Jackson: In Conversation With Josh Horowitz event, Jackson accidentally revealed that Martin Freeman is part of the cast of Secret Invasion. Of course, Freeman plays Agent Everett Ross in the MCU appearing previously in Captain America: Civil War and Black Panther. He is also set to make an appearance in the upcoming Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. So far, Marvel Studios hasn't confirmed Freeman's involvement in Secret Invasion.
If you look at the clip above, while Horowitz was listing the cast members, Jackson added Martin Freeman's name. "How amazing is that? Martin Freeman. Come on. When I walked in the room and Olivia Colman was standing there, I was just like, [excited]," he said before he went on to praise Colman and shared that he had a wonderful time working with her.
It is awesome to hear that Freeman will be showing up in the series since he is a great character and it's always nice whenever an established MCU character makes another appearance. It's also not surprising that Freeman's character could show up in the series given the nature of the story where Agent Ross might get involved in the government conspiracy that Nick Fury and Talos are dealing with.
It's also funny that Jackson accidentally spilled it although it's not the first time that an MCU actor would slip a major spoiler in the public. Perhaps it's just an honest mistake for Jackson and maybe he didn't realize that Freeman's involvement has not been officially confirmed yet. Either way, it's just exciting to hear that Freeman will be showing up, making it another MCU project that he'll appear in other than Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
There's a lot of anticipation right now to Secret Invasion as it will mark the next appearance of Jackson, Mendelsohn, and Cobie Smulders in the MCU reprising their respective roles. They are joined by franchise newcomers Emilia Clarke, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Olivia Colman, Carmen Ejogo, Killian Scott, and Christopher McDonald.
Secret Invasion is currently set to be released on Disney+ later this year.
