Robert Downey Jr. to Produce a Sherlock Holmes TV Series for HBO Max

As revealed by The Hollywood Reporter, Robert Downey Jr. and his wife, Susan Downey would be producing a Sherlock Holmes series under their production company, Team Downey. It would be on HBO Max where there are two scripted interpretations of the title under development and Lionel Wigram, the producer of Sherlock Holmes (2009) and its sequel Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (2011) where Robert Downey played the titular character, would be co-producing the show.

Details on the show remain in the shadows on whether this would be the replacement of the much-anticipated Sherlock Holmes 3 or if it would be connected to the movies of Robert Downey Jr. as Sherlock Holmes, not to mention that there is another Sherlock Holmes TV series led by Downey Jr.’s co-stars in the MCU with Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman.

The two series aren’t a surprise considering that Downey Jr. already mentioned before that he wants a Sherlock Holmes Cinematic Universe like that of Marvel where he came from. With his knowledge of building a successful shared universe in the MCU and experience playing the titular character in the upcoming series, Downey Jr. will surely not settle for less.
