Bruce Willis Diagnosed With Frontotemporal Dementia
The family of the American actor divulged in a lengthy statement published on Thursday that he has frontotemporal dementia. They said:
“While this is painful, it is a relief to finally have a clear diagnosis. FTD is a cruel disease that many of us have never heard of and can strike anyone. For people under 60, FTD is the most common form of dementia, and because getting the diagnosis can take years, FTD is likely much more prevalent than we know.”

The Willis family added:
“Today there are no treatments for the disease, a reality that we hope can change in the years ahead. As Bruce’s condition advances, we hope that any media attention can be focused on shining a light on this disease that needs far more awareness and research.”
The statement also said if Bruce Willis “could” respond to his situation he would want to spread awareness and bring “global attention and connectedness” to others suffering from the “debilitating disease.”

The statement concluded:
“Bruce has always found joy in life — and has helped everyone he knows to do the same. It has meant the world to see that sense of care echoed back to him and to all of us. We have been so moved by the love you have all shared for our dear husband, father, and friend during this difficult time. Your continued compassion, understanding, and respect will enable us to help Bruce live as full a life as possible.”
Bruce Willis’ Aphasia Diagnosis In March 2022
To recall, the family of Bruce Willis announced his aphasia diagnosis last year, which caused struggles to speak, write and understand language, both written and oral. Amid his health battle, the actor continued to appear in public with friends and enjoyed “impromptu” jam sessions.
Willis’ current wife, Emma Heming, revealed that she was grappling with “paralyzing” grief months following the said diagnosis. She wrote on social media:
“I’m learning how to live along side [sic] it.”
She also shared wisdom from Willis’ daughter Scout, penning:
“Grief is the deepest and purest form of love. I hope you find some comfort in that too.”
Besides Scout, Willis shares daughters Rumer and Tallulah with ex-wife Demi Moore. The actor and Heming, who have been married since 2009, share daughters Evelyn and Mabel.
