The entire Marvel film fandom was shaken to its very core following the stunning announcement of Aaron Taylor-Johnson being cast in Sony's Kraven the Hunter project to play the titular villain role. The project which has been under development for quite some time now has been actively looking for an actor to lead the film but despite the fact that ATJ seems to be the perfect casting choice, his involvement in the upcoming Sonyverse flick left a lot of people in a complete state of confusion.

Despite Sony not acknowledging the existence of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the general belief within the fandom is that the studio's own Spidey shared universe is somehow connected to Kevin Feige's billion-dollar franchise which isn't too farfetched to believe considering both film outfits currently have a deal which would allow Tom Holland's Spider-Man to appear in any project under the Marvel Studios and/or Sony banner.

It's safe to assume right off the bat that Taylor-Johnson's casting as Kraven may have killed any hope for him of returning to the MCU as Quicksilver but you know, there are always two sides of the same coin. If the Sonyverse is in fact "connected" to the MCU, chances are his version of Kraven is most likely from the multiverse which is, of course, a little easier to digest. Or fans could just accept the fact that Sony and Marvel Studios' respective film universes aren't exactly canon to each other.

Now, fans may be thinking that the actor's Sony casting doesn't exactly affect his "potential" MCU comeback since other actors have had dual roles within the MCU in the past. However, it can't be denied that ATJ is a recognizable face and that he played a major character in the Avengers movies and people will definitely have a hard time not being reminded of his Quicksilver history. This should be a tricky one.

Sony's Kraven the Hunter film is slated to hits cinemas on January 13, 2023.
